Jaipur: a hostel city with a campus wrapped around it
The University of Rajasthan affiliates roughly 400 colleges, and Jaipur holds somewhere above 300,000 students once the private universities on the outskirts, MNIT, the medical colleges and the coaching population are counted. The coaching population is the Jaipur difference. Gopalpura Bypass, Mansarovar and Pratap Nagar are lined with institutes preparing 17 to 22 year olds for JEE, NEET, CA and the state services, and those students live in hostels and PGs, two and three to a room, in the tens of thousands.
That gives Jaipur a Kota-style economy without Kota’s isolation. The same student who spends the day in a coaching batch is on the metro to C-Scheme on Sunday, following Hinglish creators, ordering from quick-commerce and saving for a scooter.
Where the 18 to 26 year olds are
University of Rajasthan’s main campus and Maharani College sit on JLN Marg, with Raja Park and Malviya Nagar as their hangouts. MNIT is further down JLN Marg at Malviya Nagar, next to World Trade Park, the city’s most useful mall for activations. Manipal, Amity, Poornima, JECRC and JK Lakshmipat are residential campuses on the Ajmer Road, Tonk Road and Dehmi Kalan edges, with thousands of hostellers each. The coaching belt runs along Gopalpura Bypass and into Mansarovar and Pratap Nagar. Everyone meets in C-Scheme, on MI Road and around Jawahar Circle.
Jaipur’s student intake is unusually pan-Indian for a Tier 2 city. Manipal, Amity and LNMIIT pull from Delhi, Bihar, Bengal and the North East, so a Jaipur campaign tests Hindi-belt creative and national creative at the same time.
What we run in Jaipur
- Hostel and coaching-centre sampling along Gopalpura Bypass, Mansarovar and the private-university hostels, which is the highest-density sampling environment in Rajasthan. See sampling and activations.
- Campus activations at MNIT, University of Rajasthan, Manipal, LNMIIT, JECRC, Amity and St. Xavier’s. See campus marketing.
- Fest partnerships at Blitzschlag, Sphinx, Oneiros, Vivacity, Renaissance and Amity Youth Fest, mostly between January and March.
- Jaipur creators: Hinglish and Rajasthani-accented creators who shoot at Hawa Mahal, Nahargarh and Johari Bazaar for brands that want the city’s look. See creator and UGC.
- Communities built around coaching batches, hostel WhatsApp groups and placement cells, used for edtech, fintech and food-delivery installs. See community marketing and app user acquisition.
The calendar is forgiving. Coaching batches run year-round, which means the hostel belt is always full, while the university fests cluster between January and March and the private universities start their year in August.
Why brands pick us for Jaipur
Jaipur is five hours from our Delhi office by road and under an hour by air, and we run it with a resident city lead rather than fly-in teams. The team behind GenZ Marketing has run Jaipur campus and hostel programmes for Unacademy, Pee Safe and Hive Hostels, and the hostel-first playbook we use here has been copied into other coaching cities in our 200+ city network.
Jaipur is the natural third city after Delhi and Gurgaon for a North India launch, and it links to Ahmedabad and Indore for a Hindi-belt and western rollout. If you are evaluating a Gen Z marketing agency for Rajasthan, read our Gen Z marketing guide, then brief us for Jaipur.
